Microdermabrasion Treatments

Microdermabrasion Treatments are a highly popular method of facial rejuvenation currently. It is considered one of the top five non-surgical procedures for people. What makes microdermabrasion great is that it is non-invasive and painless. It combines mechanical exfoliation and an adjustable vacuum pressure that makes exfoliation safe. The procedure is also known as “lunch hour” treatment because it takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to complete.

Microdermabrasion treatments are used for many skin treatments including scar removal, the removal of dark spots, sun-damaged skin removal, and acne treatments. It also helps reduce the visibility of wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, fine lines, and skin darkness or dullness.

Microdermabrasion also helps skin care products penetrate the skin up to 50 percent deeper than before. It removes the outermost layer of skin called the stratum corneum. Jets of aluminum oxide or zinc oxide, organic particles, or a roughened surface remove the dead skin cells and prompt the skin to produce a new layer of skin cells. These new skins cells have higher levels of elastin and collagen, making your skin appears younger and smoother.

Some microdermabrasion treatments can be done at home with a kit, but they most often take place in an office. There are two main types of microdermabrasion treatments. Diamond microdermabrasion involves using diamond tips to remove dead skin cells. This method uses a disposable or reusable wand made of diamond tips of various sizes and coarseness. The diamond tips are natural and are easier to use. They are safer as well because they do not leave tiny particles in your eyes, nose, or mouth. The downfall to diamond microdermabrasion is that bacteria stays on the tips and can spread to other parts of your body. It’s also not as effective as removing skin cells as crystal treatments because they do not work well on irregular surfaces.

The other main type of microdermabrasion treatments is done by using crystals. The crystals are made out of aluminum oxide, which is the second hardest mineral after diamonds. Its irregular shape makes this type more effective at removing the top layer of skin and there is no chance of allergic or adverse reactions. The microdermabrasion crystals are also nontoxic and no carcinogenic, so if they are ingested, they are at no harm to you.

Other methods include bristle tips, sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride crystals, and organic grains. The bristle tips are more flexible and move with the skin to avoid irritation. They are usually made from either polyester or nylon and are not as likely to strip the skin. There is also no risk of inhalation of stray particles. Another type of microdermabrasion treatments is sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride crystals. These are soft and regular-shaped so it is more uncomfortable to use them because the spray needs to be faster. It is 25 percent the effectiveness of aluminum oxide, but they are also water-soluble. Organic grains buff and polish. These are made from trees, straw, reeds, agricultural crops, cane sugar, sunflower, or maize and therefore are nontoxic. This method is perfect for those with sensitive skin, but is not as popular as other methods.

After a microdermabrasion treatments, your skin will appear pinkish, but this should fade after several hours. Eventually, you can apply makeup and return for another treatment in the next few weeks. Always consult with a dermatologist or specialist before undergoing any type of skin treatment.

Microdermabrasion Treatments are great to rejuvenate your skin and exfoliate dead and hardened skin cells that will not scrub off with a regular washcloth. This treatment comes has many different methods, so choose one that fits best with your skin. After a session, your skin will feel new and light.
